FOTB- Rocky's

We find ourselves at...

Rocky's Crown Pub is a local bar and grill in Pacific Beach located at 3786 Ingraham St. This is the Crown Point area, so it's in between PB and Mission Bay.

The Food: 4.5/5 Stars
The burgers here are really goooooood. The burgers are brought to the table and after dressing it up with the appropriate condiments, you just let it sit on the plate as you contemplate how you are going to attack it. I ordered the 1/2 lb Cheeseburger and as I kept scarfing down bite after bite, the juices were just dripping down my chin into the basket. Satisfying and delicious. It's a non-pretentious burger with great taste and no thrills. It sits in its basket, staring you down, until you finally muster the courage to make the move and eat it. Dinner conversation was stopped as we feasted on our burgers.

The Drinks: 2/5 Stars
The drink selection is quite limited. Their selection is virtually limited to what they have on tap: Bud, Bud Lite, Coors Lite, Miller Lite, and Sierra Nevada. I did see someone order 2 bottles of Corona and some chick looked pretty classy holding a glass of Sutter Home wine. [Editor's note: Does drinking Sutter Home at a local bar really make you classy?]

The Atmosphere: 4/5 Stars
Local bar. You walk in and see the bartender chatting it up with a couple of people seated at the bar and then turn over and ask about life as a familiar face sits up to the bar. Rocky's is tiny, so good luck finding a table, as seats are hard enough to come by. Which makes it a good thing that the crowd here is friendly. This trip, a fellow patron bought my first pitcher and previous outings, I have found myself sharing a table with newly made friends. It's extremely laid back and casual, and you can catch a couple of games on the various tvs throughout the establishment.

Overall: 4/5 Stars
Rocky's is a great place to go. It can get packed quickly, which is it's main negative characteristic. With a casual setting, it's a go-to place for a great burger and a pitcher of beer with a friend. You can catch the games' scores and easily start a conversation with people in there. Be prepared to wait as the crowd can grow quite large, lengthening the time for a burger and beer, but it's well worth the wait.
